Fantastic weather along with a decent size crowd witness a local derby
with the home team Langwarrin continuing their very impressive debut
season in the Vodafone State League 1 with a win over Dandenong Thunder.
A significant fact
about Langwarrin's season is that
are still
undefeated after 13 rounds! . The undefeated streak remaining intact after a
high scoring second half of play with Langwarrin eventually running away 5 - 2.
Interesting enough it was Dandenong Thunder that held the lead at the half way
point of the match with a single goal scored in the opening minutes and
stretched that lead to a two goal advantage after the break. But the second half
belong firmly in Langwarrin's favour.
As many may know Langwarrin is fighting for promotion into the Premier League,
but you could say that it was Dandenong Thunder that had just as much to gain if
they had of won, as they are in a battle to avoid the relegation. It turned out
not to be Dandenong Thunders day.
What was more impressive about Langwarrin's win was that they did all the
scoring without the services of inform striker, leading State 1 goalscorer and
hat trick hero Caleb Nicholas, who unfortunately suffered a setback by receiving
an injury during a friendly match the previous weekend between Frankston Select
and A-League team Melbourne Victory. But a hat trick was still recorded, this
time by Langwarrin faithful Ben Caffrey along with single goals by Skledar &
Tomic. Goal scorers for Dandenong Thunder where Ibraimi& Tairi.
