After a shaky start where Noble Park United gain the upper hand with the
opening goal, Berwick City showed plenty of fighting spirit as they ran
away with the match with the next four goals. Two by the end of the
first half and two in the second.
It was a much needed victory as the reigning Provisional League 1 South
East leaders Berwick City lost three points away to Springvale City the
previous week to give Templestowe Eagles a sniff of the league
championship. The win over mid table Noble Park United was even the more
valuable as Berwick City chases a place in the State League, something
they have never achieved before.
Whilst been the losing team on the day Noble Park United still occupies
sixth position and in unlikely to win promotion or be relegated at the
end of the season.
The match that may determined the outcome of the league will be in two
weeks time when Berwick City host Templestowe Eagles in a blockbuster at
Jack Edwards Reserve. Berwick got the win away in round 6 and will want
the double, but for Templestowe a win could see them take top position. |
