Wow! Some eye popping results in round 13 of the Bayside Soccer League and none more so that Endeavour Sports stunning first victory of the season over one of the established top clubs over the years Boronia Knights. After getting clobbered in the last two rounds that resulted in the opposition collecting ten goals on each occasion, Endeavour not only must have got the worlds greatest plumber to fixed the huge leak in their defence but they scored three goals themselves to win 3 – 1. Boronia Knights has now gone five games without a win and now are in an unbelievable position of challenging for a league title to fighting to avoid relegation! What a development!

Many have talk about how Westernport are better than what their results represent, and that was proven with a win at home to the informed Croydon Ranges. It was a devastating loss for Croydon who have been the most improved team of the second half of the season and started to challenge for a top two position. But the win was equally important to Westernport as they continue to stay above the relegation zone with 15 points. Croydon Ranges drop a place to fifth position with 19 points.

It was a vital match for Hampton Park United but they could not get the victory they needed to stay within one point of Chelsea after a narrow away loss to Knox City. For Knox the result has moved them up to third position, just two points shy of second place with 22 points. Hamtpton Park United is still second on 24 points, now four points adrift from top place Chelsea, but do have a crunch match next weekend against Rosebud. A loss next round would almost certainly hand Chelsea Young Boys the league title.

Speaking of Rosebud, they where also another victim of an eye popping performance by second last Cuscatlan. Cuscatlan proved that last weeks 1 – 1 draw to Knox City was no fluke by upsetting Rosebud 1 – 0 at Rosebud’s Olympic Park. The result now has Rosebud drop a place to forth position with 20 pts. Cuscatlan are second last on 13.

The league leaders Chelsea Young Boys got the three points without dropping a sweat as their match against Pines Condors was awarded to Chelsea after the midweek expulsion of the Pines Condors from the league. But even though Chelsea has proven to be the most consistent team in the league the jury is still out on the club as a poll on the official league website that poses the question will Chelsea hang on top spot was tied at 47% each way on a yes or no.

The three was tussle at the top of the Premier League Reserves league has a new development with Boronia Colts losing on the weekend to second last Endeavour Sports. What a blow for the club from Boronia to lose two matches against the same club that they would have expected to win both. Croydon Ranges maintain top position by the narrowest margin with a game in hand over second placed Knox City.

In the division 1 Peninsula are closer to joining the ranks of the Premier League for the first time in the clubs short history after defeating forth place Langwarrin 4 – 1 and moving equal top with Cerberus due to the later club match with Montrose Rodpacs postponement. Next weekend will be a grand final like match between second place Peninsula and top of the league Cerberus is a match that could very well decided who will win the league. One club that is still in pursuit of these two is Brighton Old Boys who was able to get the win over the ever improving Baxter Soccer Club 3 – 2. Still the result has Brighton six points away from a possible promotion place in third position. Monash Peninsula (9pts) must have been delighted about their 3 – 2 home win over Frankston Outlaws to move three points away from the relegation zone from Mornington Power (6pts) and Montrose Rodpacs (5pts).

And finally in the Division 2 the current league leaders Montrose Old Boys gain three points with a walkover the Pines Condors Old Boys. Second place Peninsula’s game was postponed against AC Milangly are currently five points adrift of top spot.
