Round 11 of the
Bayside Soccer League and it is Chelsea that has return back into
winning form when in a high stakes match they defeated Boronia
Knights 3 – 1. This result has giving them a four point advantage at
the top but they may be cut if and when the postponed Pines Condors
v Hampton Park United match takes place. A significant result for Westernport Wanderers at the lower end of the table occurred as they defeated Cuscatlan in a relegation battle that now has Westernport three points clear into the safety zone. Westernport won that match 3 – 0. Knox City move into forth position when they defeated Rosebud 2 – 0. A brilliant result away from home for Knox City that also brought to an end a three game winless streak. It though is a huge dent for Rosebuds ambition to return to enormous success they enjoyed in the 90’s when they collected no less than eight league titles. Croydon Ranges again proved a deadly opponent and perhaps a dark horse in the chase for the title as they won their forth game out of five but this time with a devastating ten goal win over Endeavour Sports. Currently Croydon are the inform team of the competition but it may be just a bit too late after a slow start to the season. They will need results to go their way which is always a possibility. The still winless Endeavour Sports are now expected to be rejoining the ranks of the Division 1 in the 2006. Unfortunately during the reserves match between Pine Condors and Hampton Park United an incident occurred resulted in the abandonment of that match and postponement of the seniors due to no referee. The Bayside Soccer League has taken a very strong stance against those who may bring the game in dispute so no doubt an investigation will be conducted into the events that took place. The Inaugural Reserves Premier League competition is a fierce three way battle between leaders Croydon Ranges, Knox City and Boronia Colts. Just one point still separates these three clubs and all gained vital victories in round 11. The most in-formed team out of the bunch is Knox City as they collected their sixth consecutive win after a victory over Rosebud. In the Division 1 league leaders Cerberus was held to a shock draw by lowly Mornington Power 1 – 1 that has allowed Peninsula a sniff of top position, though still three points adrift. Peninsula made no mistake as they powered to a 6 – 1 win over Montrose Rodpacs whilst Brighton Old Boys also made the most of Cerberus draw by defeating Boronia Colts 2 – 1. Baxter gained their forth win of the season and by doing so getting closer to securing their place in the division 1 in 2006 after defeating Monash Peninsula. Langwarrin v Frankston Outlaws match did not take place due to the ground been unfit. Finally in the Division 2 it was first vs. second with Peninsula defeating Montrose Old Boys 3 – 2. The battle is far from over though to decide the league champion but after AC Milalgy could only manage a draw it looks like both Peninsula and Montrose Old Boys should make the jump to Division.
