This
weekend’s game between Heidelberg united and Preston Lions will be a
fully ticketed event.
The decision was made today after consultation with both clubs and
the Victoria Police. Members of the general public will be able to
purchase tickets from Heidelberg SC until 5pm on Saturday.
Football Federation Victoria (FFV) Chief Executive Officer Tony
Pignata said the initiative is another step in the attempt to gain
greater control on crowds at blockbuster games.
“Both clubs and the FFV have met with police and security and
discussed the best way of minimising the risk of crowd disturbance.
“A fully ticketed game ensures we can record the personal details of
each attendee. This will guarantee genuine supporters of both clubs
attend the game. Those who are interested in turning up to create
trouble are not welcome and will be identified under this system
“Both clubs have done everything to ensure the appropriate steps
have been taken in the lead-up to this game.
“Big games such as this should be open to the general public and to
genuine football supporters. We urge fans to pre purchase the
tickets before Sunday,” Pignata said.
Members of Heidelberg and FFV season pass holders will be allowed
into the game upon presentation of their 2005 cards. Preston members
will be required to pre-purchase their tickets.
Entry will be denied to those without a pre purchased ticket or the
abovementioned passes. There will be no tickets on sale on match
day.
Tickets can be purchased at Heidelberg United Soccer Club, from 9am
– 9pm Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. 9am – 5pm Saturday. |
