The return of league football after three weeks of intense cup matches witnessed plenty of dramas and upsets that now have 5 clubs within two points of each other.

League leaders Chelsea Young Boys had already been docked three points during the past week was then given another blow by been defeated by 7th placed Croydon Ranges.

But the team that should have capitalized on Chelsea’s defeat was also in a shock loss when second place Pines Condors lost to one of the relegation favourites Cuscatlan 2 – 1! Maybe this was revenge by Cuscatlan for the loss in final of the Casey Cup early this year.

Boronia Knights and Knox City both also failed to take advantage of the top two teams losses as they cancelled each other out with a 2 – 2 draw. Boronia Knights are two points away from the top and are currently in forth position. Knox City are continuing top impress in their debut season in this league and are not that far behind either in sixth place.

The team that did make the most of all this is Hampton Park United with a narrow victory over bottom placed Endeavour Sports. Hampton Park now hold third place, one point behind Chelsea. Endeavour has yet to win since promoted this season.

The other team to make ground was Rosebud who is now in fifth position after defeating Westernport Wanderers. With this loss and Cuscatlan’s win, only goal difference separates both Westernport and Cuscatlan from the second last position and the relegation zone.

Croydon Ranges B moved into top spot of the Reserves League when former league leader Boronia Colts lost to Knox City. This also move Knox City above Boronia Colts into second position.

The First Division Cerberus maintained their five point gap at the top with a close victory over Baxter. Peninsula, Brighton Old Boys and Langwarrin also scored victories as they keep in the hunt for promotion to the Premier League. Frankston Outlaws also recorded a massive win over now bottom place and former Premier League club Montrose Rodpacs with an 9 - 0 landside.

The Second Division witnessed third placed AC Milangy recent winning form come to a halt with a draw to Mornington Glory. Still it is Montrose Old Boys leading the way with Peninsula B in second position.
