The
Vodafone
Premier
League
heads
into
regional
Victoria
later
this
month
with
the
round
19
fixture
between
the
Sunshine
Georgies
and
Bentleigh
Greens
being
played
in
Wodonga.
This
new
Football
Federation
Victoria
(FFV)
initiative
will
give
Victorians
living
in
the
country
a
chance
to
see
the
State’s
top
flight
competition
first
hand.
FFV
Chief
Executive
Officer
Tony
Pignata
says
the
sport’s
popularity
is
growing
in
regional
areas,
particularly
in
Albury/Wodonga.
“There
are
more
people
playing
the
game
at
all
levels
than
ever
before
and
we
hope
that
by
brining
some
of
Victoria’s
elite
teams,
we
can
further
encourage
participation
in
our
great
code.”
“We
are
expecting
a
strong
crowd
and
if
the
game
is
warmly
received,
we
will
look
at
making
this
a
regular
fixture
on
the
FFV
calendar,”
Mr.
Pignata
said.
The
game
features
two
teams
that
will
be
eager
for
a
win.
Both
Sunshine
and
Bentleigh
need
to
pick
up
points
to
get
clear
of
the
relegation
zone.
Bentleigh
is
on
the
bottom
of
the
table
and
a
win
will
see
them
close
the
gap
on
second
bottom
placed
St.Alban’s.
The
Georgies,
on
the
other
hand
will
be
buoyed
by a
draw
last
round
against
the
high
flying
Essendon
Royals
and
will
be
looking
for
the
three
points
to
steer
them
clear
from
relegation
trouble.
The
last
time
they
met
back
in
round
6,
Sunshine
defeated
Bentleigh
3-1
away
at
the
Kingston
Heath
Complex.
In
the
curtain
raiser,
local
clubs
Wodonga
Diamonds
and
Albury
United.
